Capsule Summary
The Mephisto Waltz No. 1 was one of the earliest Hatto recordings to circulate, and it helped create the Hatto legend. The source for the Mephisto Waltz is Janina Fialkowska’s Liszt CD on Musica Viva. La Notte originates from Michel Dalberto’s Denon recording, which also supplied material for Hatto’s Années de pèlerinage, Book II. The Piano Sonata in B minor is partly played by Claudius Tanski. The Spanish Rhapsody is unidentified.
Thanks to Norihiko Nagata for identifying the Dalberto source.
