Capsule Summary

This recital disc mostly uses material from earlier Hatto releases together with a few additional source identifications. Scherzo No. 2 is entirely by Jean-Yves Thibaudet, whereas the earlier release of this work on Chopin Volume 3 was divided between Dang Thai Son and Thibaudet. The Mazurkas duplicate the performances by Eugène Indjic on Chopin Volume 9. The Introduction and Rondo, Op. 16 is the same performance by Joanna Trzeciak that appeared on Chopin Volume 4. The Waltzes duplicate the performances on Chopin Volume 7, except that the E minor Waltz is now entirely by Arthur Moreira-Lima, whereas on the earlier release the opening 8 bars were by Garrick Ohlsson. The Nocturne in D-flat major, Op. 27 No. 2 is played by Janne Mertanen and is unique to this release. The Etudes, Op. 10 Nos 5 and 12 duplicate the performances by Michiko Tsuda and Boris Berezovsky on Chopin Volume 1, but the Etude, Op. 10 No. 8 by Berezovsky is unique to this release. Lastly, the Polonaise, Op. 53 duplicates the performance by Janne Mertanen on Chopin Volume 11.
