Capsule Summary
The Polonaises, Op. 40 No. 1 and Op. 53 are taken from Garrick Ohlsson‘s EMI recording. Abdel Rahman El Bacha plays the Rondo, Op. 73, the Introduction and Rondo, Op. 16, and the first movement of Sonata No. 1. The second movement is played by Ohlsson and Fred Oldenburg. The opening 21 seconds of the third movement are unidentified, but the remainder is played by Oldenburg. The fourth movement is played by Ohlsson. The Ludovic Variations and Allegro de Concert are both composites drawn from Frank van de Laar’s and El Bacha’s recordings.
