Capsule Summary
The opening of the Pathétique is divided between Alfredo Perl, Jenő Jandó, and Ian Hobson, after which Garrick Ohlsson plays the remainder of the movement. The second and third movements are played by Hobson and Perl respectively. Ian Hobson plays the opening movement of the Sonata, Op. 14 No. 1; the second movement is by Hobson and John O’Conor, with Jenő Jandó added for the third movement. The three movements of the Sonata, Op. 14 No. 2 are each played by a different pianist: Hobson, O’Conor, and Jandó respectively. The first movement of the Moonlight Sonata is played by John Ogdon, after which Jandó plays the second movement and nearly all of the third. The final 41 seconds are played by Perl.
